Twenty years after it started making its first wines, Calmel & Joseph - founded in 1995 - acquired a superb estate, a former metairie (tenant farm estate), typical of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
160 hectares in spectacular countryside.
Our unique estate, a stone’s throw from Carcassonne, nestles in a 160-hectare valley in the foothills of the Val de Dagne, Alaric mountain and the Hautes Corbières. Surrounded by spectacular landscape, it is just minutes from Carcassonne’s medieval citadel and the Canal du Midi, both listed as Unesco World Heritage sites.

Set in a unique environment, our four fully renovated gîtes offer many activities for guests during their stay – from relaxing by the pool or in the sauna to enjoying various sporting activities (horse trekking, hiking, mountain biking) on the estate’s land and along the numerous paths and trails in the area, including the GR36 long distance walking route which runs alongside the estate …

Our estate’s agricultural activities – wine, olive oil, almond trees, lavender and honey production – are yours to discover.
After your day out, relax and enjoy the pace of life back on the estate, which is worked entirely in the traditional manner, with the tillage of the land and plowing by horse. We firmly respect our ecosystem (no chemical input). Try our wines in the tranquility of our wine cellars or enjoy them on the terrace watching the sun sink slowly behind the hills.

My family and I spent a week in Calmel & Joseph's "Le Domaine" gîte over the Christmas holidays and I have to say that the facilities exceeded our expectations. We were able to enjoy the indoor pool, a lovely fireplace, long walks through the estate (which is so vast we couldn’t get around it all), and Christmas festivities in Carcassonne only 15 minutes away ... thank you for an enjoyable stay!
Words fail us. Just returned to the UK after an amazing 2 weeks staying in one of the Gites on the vineyard. Beautiful setting, great accomodation, superb staff (Sandy particularly) and wonderfull wine. Definitely planning to return to the aera.

We had a blast ! The estate is beautiful, near Carcassonne and yet in absolutely peaceful surroundings. The 4 gîtes are settled in a way they are kept isolated from each other. Sandy is very welcoming and the wine tasting was pleasant. Super nice !

You can add welcoming hosts, a heated pool with the view on vines and then a very good wine tasting, you will obtain the break we were dreaming of !

We have been charmed by the accomodation and the surroundings, in the heart of the vines.
The colors of the Indian Summer and the ever-present sun, allowed us to visit the region. The amazing indoor pool and the sauna are a big help to relax. The kindness of Sandy, the Cathare Castles, The cité of Carcassonne and the outdoor market of Mirepoix were all we asked for a perfect stay ! Strongly recommended.

Just back from a wonderful stay on the estate! We were a group of five friends travelling from London for a short break in 'Les Crus' and we had a fantastic time. The surroundings are truly beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed going for walks and connecting with nature. We also loved the wine tasting - all very good and we will definitely be approaching your UK agent to buy some bottles now we are back!
